Greater Things

Life seems like a Circle. Meeting always at some place or the other. People today are always dreaming about Greater things. Everywhere there are greater expectations, greater goals, greater dreams and greater challenges...

Even when the year started, all of us would have taken greater goals. Some wanted to stop some bad habits. Some wanted to improve on good habits. Some wanted to achieve this or that. Everyone would have achieved some thing or the other in our life {coming 1st in your class, champion in sports, eating competition. wanted to finish a degree, a great job…) Once we achieve one we always wanted to go for a higher one. By going on doing that we forget "Why we are doing what we are doing?"

Today we will look at a man who had everything in Life even more than what he could desire. King Solomon is said to have lived in more than 2300 years ago, who is said to be the wisest man that ever lived.

Ecclesiastes 2:1-11
1 I thought in my heart, "Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good." But that also proved to be meaningless.
2 "Laughter," I said, "is foolish. And what does pleasure accomplish?"
3 I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly--my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.
4 I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards.
5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.
6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.
7 I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.
8 I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired men and women singers, and a harem as well--the delights of the heart of man.
9 I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.
10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

This whole passage talks about all the thing's Solomon had achieved, when compared to us most of us have achieved nothing, yet what was the response of Solomon

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Even in spite of achieving all those great things, Solomon believed that to fear God and keep his commandments is the greatest thing. What does it mean to fear God?

God needs our heart. Some of us could be feeling good about our self, but where do we stand before God? Where is our hearts? The world today is different. Are we caught in the trap? How are we today? Are we happy from inside, from the outside we could seem happy but is that really us, God can heal us and give us eternal life.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus can help us change through His love.
a. Ultimate Sacrifice
b. Unconditional Love
c. Eternal Life (life without guilt)

This Man Jesus touched our Life, He can touch anybody's life.

The Bible teaches us that God is coming back to judge the world. All our secrets, things that no one knows about are going to be revealed. We need to be prepared. Let us follow God from your Heart. Our Life will Change, and we can really achieve Greater Things through HIM.
